QGIS KML & KMZ File

How to open KML file in QGIS

1. Open QGIS application.

2. From the Layer menu select Data Source Manager.

3. The data source manager window will appear, on the left panel, select Vector.

4. In the right side the options for vector data will appear, the Source Type default select file, and in the Vector Dataset(s) browse the kml file (ex- Gosaba).

5. Finally click Add button, and close the Data Source Manager panel.

Now you can see added kml file in the Layers panel, and also map canvas in QGIS.

How to export KML to Shapefile

Export your kml file to Shapefile, follow the steps:

1. Right-click the kml file in the Layers panel, and select Export, the click Save Features As

2.The Save Vector Layer As window will appear, dropdown Format option, and choose ESRI Shapefile.

3. Click the Browse, choose your Output destination folder and write the File name.

4. Click Ok button.

Automatically add your shapefile file in the Layers panel, and also map canvas.

How to convert Shapefile to KML

1. Right-click the kml file in the Layers panel, and select Export, the click Save Features As

2.The Save Vector Layer As window will appear, dropdown Format option, and choose Keyhold Markup Language (KML).

3. Click the Browse, choose your Output destination folder and write the File name.

4. Click Ok button.

Automatically add your KML file in the Layers panel, and also map canvas.
